Individual consultation with an Ayurveda doctor «Anuradh»

Speaking of beauty in the context of Ayurveda, it should be noted from the very beginning that we are not talking about new products that are widely advertised in our time. In Ayurveda, inner and outer beauty are closely related. The more care we take, the more beautiful we become internally and externally.

Ayurvedic procedures are a whole complex of soft relaxing manipulations, which, due to their correct selection by a specialist, the correct technique for performing and the correct selection of medicinal herbs and oils, not only give great pleasure from the procedures themselves, soothe the psyche, but also have a tuning fork effect on the entire body. acting on him at the level of psychosomatics. In addition, due to the correct selection of herbal powders, oils and the procedures themselves, they have a direct medicinal effect on individual organs and on the entire body as a whole. It is also worth mentioning that all procedures are performed with the use of influence on the internal channels of energy movement in the body, as well as on acupressure points, enhancing the effect of oils, herbs and the procedures themselves.

It is recommended to undergo Ayurveda procedures comprehensively, to affect the whole body, as well as a course of 7-14 days or more. Classical Ayurvedic treatises, for example, recommend daily abhyanga (body oil massage) throughout life, starting from the first days.

It is best to start Ayurvedic procedures with a consultation with a specialist who, using the most ancient diagnostic method (pulse diagnosis), as well as other non-apparatus auxiliary methods, will determine your constitution (by the type of doshas) from birth, as well as its imbalance at the time of consultation. The smaller the difference between the first and the second, the healthier your body is.

Then, based on the results of the consultation, the specialist, taking into account possible contraindications, will recommend procedures that would be good to go through, select herbal powders and oils for your type of constitution, and also, if desired, give recommendations on diet, day, fluid intake, as well as a list of products that will be most useful to you. If necessary, he will advise on preventive procedures that can be carried out at home, as well as herbal preparations to maintain the body in a healthy state.

At the end of Ayurvedic procedures, especially during periods of uncomfortable weather conditions, it is best to have a short period of relaxation listening to the music of singing bowls or have a cup of tea with spices specially selected for your type of constitution for 30-40 minutes. This will give an opportunity to gain a foothold in the beneficial effects of the procedures in the body and protect you from the negative effects of weather conditions.

Procedures and Practices

Abhyanga - full body and scalp massage

The exceptionally gentle Ayurvedic oil massage Abhyanga is the most important procedure in Ayurveda. It is performed with rhythmic movements practically without tearing the hands of the masseur throughout the entire time of the massage. Warm sesame oil with the addition of natural aromatic ingredients, selected for each client individually in accordance with his constitution, is deeply absorbed into the body. All this gives a state of deep relaxation, calms the running of thoughts and revives both the body and the emotional sphere from the ashes of cruel everyday life.

The massage is performed in accordance with the thin channels (nadis) running in the body, removing stagnant phenomena, balancing the flow of juices and energies in the body.

As a result, Abhyanga has the following long lasting effect:

  • Returns heat to the body;
  • Calms the emotional sphere;
  • Makes the skin smooth and glossy;
  • Gives shine to the face;
  • Quickly improves physical and psychological well-being;
  • Saturates the body with energy;
  • Gives physical strength;
  • Slows down aging;
  • Normalizes sleep;
  • Removes internal and external toxins from the body;
  • Effectively promotes body weight control as it balances Dhatu (body tissue).

It is advisable to do a small Ayurvedic massage at least twice a week to calm the mind and strengthen various organs and systems of the body. The Vagbhatt Samhita, one of the oldest classical treatises in Ayurveda, says: “Abhyanga should be done every day. It slows down aging, eliminates weakness, removes excess Vata Dosha, relieves the problems of head, ears, feet and legs disorders. "

Padmabhyanga - Ayurvedic acupressure of feet and legs from the knees

A gentle massage that soothes muscles and relaxes the ligaments. Massage of the feet (and legs up to the knee) is especially effective with medicinal oils, during which special points (marmas) are activated, through which a beneficial effect on many internal organs and the entire body occurs. On the soles of the feet, as on a satin, each organ has its own zone or point.

After the massage, you will feel extraordinary lightness not only in your legs, but also in the whole body. The massage will relieve the swelling of the legs and the flabbiness and dryness of the skin of the legs, stabilize the energy balance of the body, improve the functioning of the cardiovascular, immune, nervous systems, and the musculoskeletal system. It will become a powerful stimulus for self-healing of the whole organism. The duration of the procedure is 30 minutes.

Mukhabhyanga - Ayurvedic massage of the face and décolleté

The technique of this massage reflects all the ancient wisdom of Indian Ayurvedic therapy. Massage (duration 30 minutes), due to the effect on the marma points, improves and tightens the skin of the face and décolleté, relaxes and nourishes the whole body.

Ayurvedic facial massage:

  • Nourishes and cleanses the tissues, which gives the skin a beautiful complexion and shine;
  • Maintains good tone and elasticity of all layers of the skin, which helps to maintain a youthful contour of the face;
  • Gives the right direction to subtle energies, relieving tension in the whole body;
  • Relieves muscle tension and the effects of stress, smoothing wrinkles and giving softness to the facial expression;
  • Gives a feeling of care, which generates a desire to take care of others, develops inner beauty.

Shirabhyanga - massage of the scalp and neck and shoulder girdle

Regular scalp massage using special medicinal oils is the secret to beautiful long and thick hair. Head massage in India is included in the daily set of self-care procedures.

Head massage effectively improves the quality and speed of hair growth. Due to the properties of the medicinal oils used, the scalp is normalized, and the secretion of the sebaceous glands returns to normal. With regular performance of this procedure, the frequency of hair washing is reduced by 2-3 times.

But head massage is performed not only to keep hair in good condition, but also to stimulate the body's natural healing capabilities and maintain harmony of body and soul.

Everyday life often brings stressful situations into our lives. Typical symptoms of stress are headaches, tension in the head, baldness, thinning hair, etc. A head massage has a positive effect not only on the symptoms of stress, but also on its cause: emotional overstrain, excessive mental agitation, nervousness. Also, head massage helps to cleanse the nose and ears, relieves excessive stiffness in the neck and shoulders. Recommended during exams, insomnia and when spiritual cleansing is needed. The oils used in the massage have medicinal properties and enhance the effect of the massage. They calm the nervous system, improve memory and focus.

Shirodhara - massage of the third eye

This is what is sometimes called shirodhara - one of the most unusual and enjoyable Indian health procedures, which was created on the basis of Ayurveda, a traditional Indian therapy with a thousand-year history.

Shirodhara (shiro - head, dhara - current) is a unique and, in part, magical method of healing. The procedure consists in pouring oil warmed to a comfortable temperature from a bowl on top of your third eye area. This procedure has a beneficial effect on the entire body, from the nervous system to smoothing out wrinkles on the face. Stimulating the third eye area has a strong effect on the brain centers, which secrete a substance like serotonin, a chemical that induces feelings of pleasure and relaxation. It also releases subtle energies in the channels along the spine, helping to calm and clarify the mind.

The main ingredients of Shirodhara oil are sesame seed (sesame oil), sweet almond, sunflower and canola oil. The components for preparing the oil mixture are selected individually depending on the psychophysiological type of a person and allow you to create a balance of primary elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth), according to Ayurveda.

Shirodhara has a deep relaxing effect on the whole body, relieves stress and nervous disorders, fights insomnia and headaches. In addition, shirodhara smoothes wrinkles, tightens the skin, strengthens the hair, and after it the face becomes fresh and rejuvenated. Of the positive results, it is also noted: a balanced mind; increase in physical strength, elimination of fatigue; improving memory; soft and radiant skin; restores good sleep; prevents premature gray hair; relieves the effects of exhaustion; reduces headache, helps in the treatment of migraines; has a beneficial effect on high blood pressure; helps with neuralgia; creates orderliness of the activity of the nerve centers of the brain.

Interestingly, the effectiveness of Shirodara has been scientifically proven. In 2008, Japanese physician Kasuo Uebaba conducted a study in which participants received shirodara daily for a week. As a result, the level of anxiety in all members of the focus group significantly decreased, the content of serotonin (the hormone of pleasure) in the blood increased, and the production of killer cells (lymphocytes that destroy foreign cells, including tumor cells) accelerated. Quite often, shirodara is included in various pain relievers, sedatives, and Ayurvedic health-improving complex programs. Even one session of Shirodara promotes deep relaxation, getting rid of anxiety, melancholy, anger, insomnia, and nervous disorders. The massage is carried out using an aromatic oil, which is selected individually.

Important! After shirodara, any physical activity is contraindicated for an hour and driving is undesirable. Do not neglect this rule.

Swedana (Shvedana) - warming up

Swedana is a body warming procedure in accordance with the rules of Ayurveda. In this procedure, in a special box, the body receives therapeutic phyto-steam, which causes active sweating. The high temperature of Swedana burns wastes away and helps the body to flush them out through the pores of the skin. Swedana (Shvedana) is usually done after the body has been completely oiled in Abhyanga. Swedana is useful in the treatment of immobility and heaviness of the body, the effects of hypothermia. Active sweating helps to remove excess fluid from the body, due to which it is one of the main components in the complex of procedures aimed at weight loss, body shaping and anti-cellulite programs.

Pinda Svedana

An extremely effective, pleasant, gentle rejuvenating technique that uses a special kind of rice mixed with special herbs and then wrapped tightly in linen knots soaked in hot oil with added essential oils. With the help of nodules, the body is intensively massaged, rubbed and warmed up.

The nodules are constantly re-soaked in hot broth. Particular attention is paid to the joints, Nadis (thin canals) and Marma points. The skin is cleansed of dead cells, polished, which makes it amazingly beautiful, radiant and full of life. This technique is especially effective for dry and tired skin. Pinda Swedana deeply warms up the body, releases stagnant energy, removes toxins, improves metabolism. Relieves drowsiness and apathy. Usually appointed after Abhyanga.

As a result: the state of fatigue and apathy is removed; gives the body strength and energy for vigorous activity; joint pain and stiffness go away; reduced post-traumatic pain and swelling, accelerates their healing. The duration of the session is 45 minutes.

Nasya (Nasya, Nasya)

Nasya is a unique Ayurvedic, therapeutic and prophylactic procedure. It combines warming up, light massage and the introduction of a special medicinal oil into the body through the nose. Nasya is a very effective procedure. Even 5 thousand years ago, Vedic doctors knew the structure of our body and its features. Due to this, they knew that the nose is the shortest path to the central nervous system. And what enters through the nose very quickly has an effect not only on the respiratory, but also on the nervous system and the brain in particular.

With the help of Nasya, both excess mucus that accumulates in the nasal sinuses and excessive dryness of the nerve trunks and fibers are very effectively eliminated.
